What You Need

lb. extra-lean ground beef

cup KRAFT Shredded Triple Cheddar Cheese with a TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA

PREMIUM Unsalted Tops Saltine Crackers, crushed (about 1/3 cup)

green onions, chopped

egg

Tbsp. milk

1/4

cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce

1/4

cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing

hot dog buns

romaine lettuce leaves

Make It

HEAT oven to 400°F.

MIX first 6 ingredients until blended; shape into 24 meatballs, using about 2 Tbsp. meat mixture for each. Place on rimmed baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 15 to 17 min. or until done (160ºF). Meanwhile, mix barbecue sauce and dressing.

FILL buns with lettuce and meatballs; serve with sauce.

Variation

Prepare using KRAFT Mexican Style Shredded Four Cheese with a TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA, and substituting 1/4 cup TACO BELL® Thick & Chunky Salsa for the barbecue sauce.

Make Ahead

Place cooled cooked meatballs in single layer in freezer-weight resealable plastic bag. Lay bag flat on baking sheet, then freeze until meatballs are firm. (Meatballs will freeze individually for easy separation when ready to use.) Filled bag can then be removed from the baking sheet and stored in freezer up to 2 months. Thaw in refrigerator several hours or overnight before using as directed.

Made theses for dinner tonight. As many of the reviews state, these meatballs are very tender! I used ground turkey instead of the ground beef. I also used Prego traditional spaghetti sauce with olive oil mayo and a dash of hot sauce...my son loved it...as did I. I will make this again.

To Millie C, If I read the freezing instructions right, they said place cooled cooked meatballs. Your critical point was answered at the begininng of the instructions. Loved the recipe and freezing instructions came in handy also.

This is in response to Milllie C about whether to cook meatballs first before freezing..The instructios seem clear to me..It says to freeze cooled baked meatballs and thaw. This was really a crowd pleaser. Hubby and kids really liked this a lot. I would only change the amount of Miracle Whip from the amount directed to just a pinch for added creaminess.

This recipe is super easy and really yummy. We tried it over rice since our family is trying to limit carbs was still very good. The sauce sounds weird but went very well with the meatballs. Definitely will make again!

You give instructions for freezing meatballs.... you do not indicated freeze before or after baking??? That is a critical point. On what I am reading, I am GUESSING?. cooking and then freeze. Those directions would not help beginner cooks.

Very good. All three of my children enjoyed this meal. The meatballs were very tender and the sauce was hit.
