Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken and thyme; mix well. Cook 5 min. or until chicken is browned, stirring frequently.
  • Add milk, water and Macaroni; cover. Cook 10 min. or until macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in Cheese Sauce, peas and dressing. Cook an additional 2 min., stirring occasionally.

How to Easily Cut Chicken

Cutting boneless skinless chicken breasts into pieces can be a slippery task. Make it safer and prevent the knife from slipping by cutting the chicken while it is partially frozen. The firmer chicken is much easier to cut and handle.

Substitute

Substitute your family's favorite frozen vegetable medley for the peas.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Made this with a few adjustments, and turned out yummy! Made this with a few adjustments, and turned out yummy!!! You MUST like peas in order to like this dish, could be good too with any other type of frozen or mixed veggies too. I used Zesty Italian dressing instead of the Catalina because that's all we had, and it added just the right amount of zip. Also added in some pepper too. Mixed in some sour cream as well to add more moisture to the mix but still keep it creamy. Probably would have been too bland for our tastes if the adjustments weren't made. I agree with the other members that a few more seasonings may be needed to make the dish tastier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from used fresh broccoli instead of peas. used fresh broccoli instead of peas. did not like cooking macaroni in skillet. thinking next time to cook macaroni outside of skillet and add it after sauce is made. i like to flavor my sauces and this particular process doesn't allow for that. also, do not use ground thyme...i accidentally purchased this and it altered the flavor even when i didn't use the exact amount. would use fresh thyme. it was still very good and i like the way the catalina doesn't alter the flavor too much. not a fan of the deluxe cheese.

I used already seasoned chicken breasts so I left out the thyme and I used 3/4 cup of peas and 1/2 cup of sweetcorn and that was definitely enough peas. It needs more liquid to cook in, mine was slightly underdone. I liked the dressing in it but overall I was very disappointed, My husband wouldn't eat it and only one of my kids ate it. I will not be making this again.

I thought it was very good and I'm not a big fan of peas, hit the spot for my pregnancy cravings though, YUM... My son who is 3.5 and my husband didn't enjoy this very much, as a matter of fact my son ate better then husband did! It was the peas, it ruined it for them, so maybe next time I'll try it with a different veggie, Ithink broccoli would go well...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I agree w/cutting back to one cup. I agree w/cutting back to one cup. My husband prefers canned peas, and we opened and added one 8.5 oz can and decided it was enough just looking at it. By taste, it was definately enough, though canned peas add a different flavor. The dressing made it seem a bit sweet for my taste, but my husband cleaned his plate twice!

I used frozen brocolli instead of peas and I cut down the catalina dressing to 1 and 1/2 tsp instead of the recommended 2. I added some salt and paprika to the chicken also. I cooked the mac and cheese separate then added it to the done chicken so there was no need for milk and water. Even my picky boo liked it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband and I (but especially my husband) loved this! My husband and I (but especially my husband) loved this! We are big mac-n-cheese people, and this was a great twist on a classic favorite. I included corn with the peas, and didn't add quite all the cheese sauce because I thought it might be a little overwhelming. But the Catalina dressing is awesome in this!
