  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Mix muffin mix, milk and egg just until blended. Stir in chiles and 2% Milk Singles.
  • Spoon into 8 greased or paper-lined muffin cups.
  • Bake 16 to 18 min. or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a steaming pot of chili and a tossed green salad topped with your favorite KRAFT Dressing, such as CATALINA.

Cheesy Chili Cornbread Squares

Prepare batter as directed, using KRAFT 2% Milk Sharp Cheddar Singles. Pour into greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 min. or until golden brown. Cut into squares.

I just added the chilies to the tops of some of the muffins. My husband loves chilies, but the kids don't. I like this recipe cause it caters to everyone's likes and dislikes verses regular cornbread.

Next time I might use shredded cheddar instead of the singles, just seems like it would be easier. Also, I made them as mini muffings, only had to cook for 12-14 minutes.

I made these muffins a few times now, they are very easy to make but lacking in flavor. I cut up my own cheddar cheese and used that but it melts so much into the mufin that you can't actually tell there is cheese in there.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I couldn't find canned green chilies, so I only used the cheese. I couldn't find canned green chilies, so I only used the cheese. I couldn't taste it, though. The muffins just tasted like regular corn muffins. Next time I won't waste my cheese.
