Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've never eaten or made Shepherd's pie before. I've never eaten or made Shepherd's pie before. This recipe was very easy and tastey too! This is something the whole family loved. I have a 5yr olds and a 20-month old. I will make it again. I did however, make a few changes. I used already made mashed potatoes from the dairy section and I used a little more gravy then what was called for. Also, I used the garlic while browning the meat (not in the potatoes as called for). These were all personal choices, but may be helpful to someone else. This is a keeper!

I added some crumbled feta and shredded italian cheeses to the mashed potatoes and some sherry wine to the ground beef...everyone at the table loved it. No leftovers. It is super easy and no effort to cook it. I also got rid of many odds and ends in my fridgeand pantry, such as carrots, spaghetti sauce, mashed potatoes, cooked ground beef, etc. Need more of these kind of recipe, easy and delicious!!! Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'd never had Shepherds Pie before but it sounded wonderful! I'd never had Shepherds Pie before but it sounded wonderful!! So, I made it and it was FANTASTIC! As I browned the meat I added some garlic, black pepper and a little red pepper. Once I mixed everything in the baking pan I added a little tabasco and mixed it in. I don't like spicy food so this wasn't spicy at all...just had some added flavor! SO GOOD! Can't wait to make it again! If you are thinking about making this you definitely should!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try this, fry hamburger in pan then instead of brown gravy, put in tomato sauce. Try this, fry hamburger in pan then instead of brown gravy, put in tomato sauce. You could also use either frozen or canned vegetables. Mix all this together and bring to a slight simmer then put in your casarole dish. Prepare mashed potatos like you normally would with milk and butter in them then put it on top of your meat mix. Then add shreaded chedder cheese on top and bake it a t 350 till the cheese is melted.

The second time I made it, I used 3lbs. of beef hamburger, added another can of beef gravy for moisture; sauteed one-quarter green and one-quarter red peppers and half of a large onion with the meat. Seaesoned with red cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Did not use the cheese package at all (because my grand son doesn't like the cheese). It was delicious. No leftovers either time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is a quick simple good for you meal... It is a quick simple good for you meal... however both my son and I perfer using tater tot instead of mashed potatoes. This time because of budget restraints I used instant mash potatoes, well drained carrots and whole kernel corn, added sherred cheddard cheese... all in all it was a good hearty meal for the two of us and will give us leftovers for our lunches at work tomorrow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made a couple changes. I made a couple changes. I cooked the ground beef with onions. I used ceam of mushroom soup and about half a cup of milk and then mixed in frozen peas, carrots, and corn to the pan. I let that heat while I made the instant cheesy potatoes. I also topped the potatoes with a little shredded cheese before I put it in the oven. It turned out really good and I will make it again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the 2nd time I've made this recipe and it was even better than the first time! This is the 2nd time I've made this recipe and it was even better than the first time! I seasoned the beef with garlic powder and onion powder, and seasoned again with garlic salt and pepper after adding the gravy and vegebtables. Without the seasoning, it can be very bland. My fiance loves it! We never have leftovers!
