Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine pasta sauce and tomatoes; spread half onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • Mix cottage cheese, spinach, 1/2 cup mozzarella, Parmesan and seasoning; spoon into pasta shells. Place over sauce in baking dish; top with remaining sauce. Cover.
  • Bake 25 min. or until heated through. Top with remaining mozzarella; bake, uncovered, 2 min. or until melted.

How to Prevent Foil from Sticking to the Melted Cheese

Spray foil with cooking spray; place, sprayed side down, over baking dish before baking shells as directed.

Make Ahead

Assemble recipe as directed. Refrigerate up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, bake, covered, in 400°F oven 35 min. or until heated through.

Freeze Ahead

Reserve 1/2 cup of the mozzarella. Assemble recipe as directed, but do not top with the reserved mozzarella. Wrap casserole in foil; freeze. When ready to serve, heat oven to 400°F. Unwrap casserole; cover with foil. Bake 55 min. or until heated through, removing foil after 30 min. Top with reserved mozzarella; bake 2 min. or until melted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe is amazingly easy and delicious! This recipe is amazingly easy and delicious!!! I exchanged the cottage cheese with Ricotta cheese and added sour cream for extra moisture (what i had in my fridge). Also, instead of jumbo shells, I used Manicotti pasta (which made it harder, honestly), and laid the tube-shaped pasta across a pan, and put a very very generous portion of shredded mozarella on top. I shouldve stuck with the jumbo shell idea! :)

Excellent, substituted cottage cheese with 30 oz rocatta cheese, fresh baby spinach (5 oz size) rinsed/drained/chopped, and 1 lb cooked/crumbled hot Italian sausage. Also for sauce added 1 cup cooked/sauted diced mushrooms, fresh ground red pepper, and if preferred as I chose to an additional 1-2 cups spaghetti sauce 1/2 way through baking time. Additionally opted to cook for 45 minutes at 400 degrees.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I read the reviews before I made this so I did some tweaking. I read the reviews before I made this so I did some tweaking. I substituted ricotta for the cottage cheese, used fresh chopped spinach and added some fresh chopped basil. It was delicious and my family loved it. Also, I used Newman's Own Sockarooni sauce instead of plain marinara. That is my go to sauce for any italian dish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good, and so easy! So good, and so easy! Doubled the recipe; we devoured half, while the rest was split between two aluminum pans and frozen. My son will be home from school next week, and I'm sending those back with him. Food is his favorite gift, especially when it's homemade and ready to pop in the oven! Thanks for the recipe!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad. Not bad. I think I may have added too much spinach b/c I felt as if it was a little over powered with the taste. I will cut back next time. Also, next time I make it I will use ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese. Just wasn't really feeling the cottage cheese flavor. I wold make this again though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very tasty! Very tasty!!! I did use a light spahgetti sauce and also cut the recipe in half (which was very easy to do)since it was just for me and my husband. We really enjoyed it and I will definitely make it again. Will probably make the full recipe next time and freeze half. Definitely a keeper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My husband and I both really liked it! My husband and I both really liked it! :) The only thing though is that he doesn't like tomatoes, and I really thought I could sneak this one in without him telling...yeah no lol. He still liked it but requested that next time I just use more sauce and leave out the tomato :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved this recipe. I loved this recipe. Not a huge fan of spinach but I wanted a meatless pasta recipe and it was just full of flavor. Didn't have any Italian Seasoning so I had to improvise. I used oregano, basil and garlic salt for my seasoning. Will definitely make this again.
