Magazine Acquisition

what you need

can  (16 oz.) pitted tart cherries, undrained
cup  sugar
Tbsp.  cornstarch
tsp.  ground cinnamon
Dash  of salt

Make It

DRAIN liquid from cherries, reserving 1/2 cup of the liquid. Pour liquid into small saucepan.

ADD sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Cook on medium heat until clear and thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cherries; cool.

STORE in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

Substitute almond extract for the cinnamon.

Spoon over cheesecake slices, scoops of vanilla ice cream or pound cake slices.
