  • Heat 1 Tbsp. dressing in large ovenproof skillet on medium heat. Add spinach; cook and stir 1 min. or just until spinach is wilted. Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm.
  • Add remaining dressing and chicken to skillet; turn chicken over to coat both sides with dressing. Cook 5 to 6 min. on each side or until chicken is done (165°F).
  • Top chicken with ham and cheese; cover. Cook on low heat 1 to 2 min. until cheese is melted. Serve over spinach mixture.

Serving Suggestion

For a simple, yet elegant, weeknight dinner, serve with hot cooked rice and a tossed green salad.

Variation

Substitute 8 fresh asparagus spears, cut in half, for the spinach. Heat dressing in skillet as directed. Add asparagus; cook and stir 5 min. or until crisp-tender. Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm. Add remaining dressing and chicken to skillet. Continue as directed.

Substitute

Prepare using KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was really surprised that I liked this so much! I was really surprised that I liked this so much! I had no clue by just adding some ham on top would add so much favor and something new to some chicken! I'm still somewhat of a newlywed, and ever since I signed up for the kraft foods magazine and started making some of the recipes from the website, my husband has said dinners have been so much better! I got this recipe from the magazine, it was the last one I made, and we loved it!

I made this recipe for dinner today and we really enjoyed it, even my 1 year old loved it and was saying "mmmm" and doing his happy dance in his high chair. I added at least half a cup of Italian dressing though to my chicken breasts and cooked the spinach last using the same pan to get the drippings on it for added flavor. I will definitely be making this again. Oh, we served it with a hot green bean salad, rice, and dinner rolls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made this using turkey ham from the deli, and sliced swiss. Made this using turkey ham from the deli, and sliced swiss. Was very good. My 6 yr old gobbled up while the almost 4 yr old wasnt a huge fan, and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. Cooked the chicken until almost done then put it under the broiler to give it that browned look, then added the ham and cheese. served with rice and extra spinach. Will certainly make again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was very easy to make. This was very easy to make. I thought it was ok, not great. However, I don't like ham or swiss cheese. My husband really liked it but he also loves ham and swiss cheese. I'd make it again only because my husband liked it so much and it was easy. I might use mozarella cheese on mine though.

I usually don't cook chicken in Italian dressing, but it soaked up all the flavor, plus, added on with some ham and swiss cheese, it made a really nice entree. Really easy to make. There was a piece leftover and it tasted delicious the next day...in fact, I should've made it into a sandwich.

I've made this recipe a couple times since seeing it in the food and family magazine recently. My husband says it's the best meal I've ever made! We've also tried it with fresh mushrooms, garlic vinaigrette and left over honey baked ham. We've loved every variation as well as the original.
