  • Cook pasta in large saucepan as directed on package, omitting salt and adding broccoli to the boiling water for the last 2 min.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add sausage; cook on medium heat 5 min., stirring occasionally. Add peppers; cook and stir 5 min. or until peppers are crisp-tender and sausage is done.
  • Drain pasta mixture. Add to skillet along with broth, half-and-half and oregano; cook and stir 3 to 5 min. or until sauce is slightly thickened. Top with shredded cheese; cook 1 to 2 min. or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with Parmesan.

Special Extra

For more spice, cook sausage with 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper.

Substitute

Prepare using another type of pasta, such as 1/2 lb. fettuccine or 4 cups mostaccioli.

Note

While the flavor and consistency of this delicious sauce is best when prepared with half-and-half or whipping cream, it can also be prepared with milk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful easy weeknight recipe. Wonderful easy weeknight recipe. I was not able to find the pasta(tried several different stores) so adapted and used a long wide egg noodle. The only chicken sausage I could find was Targets Spinach and Garlic Chicken Sausage which was very good. It's the first time that we tried chicken sausage. The meal was a huge hit! Some went back for seconds. I think with us it made more then 4 servings.

I used Al Fresco Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage, but I had to substitute the pappardelle pasta with farfalle, as the 4 stores I visited did not carry it. It was delicious, and easy. I would definitely make it again.
