Being from the south, I made a few alterations to this recipe. I only used 1 small onion, a small can of mushrooms (since I did not have fresh ones), added 1/2 tsp minced garlic, and a pinch of basil leaves. I also made the stuffing using butter and 1-1/4 cups water. It turned out great!
I doctored this up a bit by using fresh basil and garlic. I also skipped the mushrooms (not a fan). The end product was excellent! My husband went back for seconds.
