  • Heat oven to 325°F.
  • Reserve 2 oz. chocolate. Coarsely chop remaining chocolate. Microwave chopped chocolate in small microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted; cool slightly. Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Beat butter and sugars in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in melted chocolate and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in nuts.
  • Divide dough in half; roll each half into 10x2-inch log on lightly floured surface. Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 40 to 50 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool on baking sheet 15 min. Transfer logs to cutting board. Use serrated knife to cut each log into 18 diagonal slices; place, cut sides down, on baking sheet.
  • Bake 10 min. on each side or until cookies are lightly browned on both sides. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Melt reserved chocolate as directed on package; drizzle over biscotti. Let stand until chocolate is firm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wowee wow wow! Wowee wow wow! Entire neighborhood wiped my first batch out in less than one day! Pretty easy to make in comparison with other Biscotti recipes. About as hard as brownies. The only thing I do in addition to the recipe is sift powdered sugar over the biscotti before drizzling the chocolate. In a little more than a week I am on my third batch! This one is going to the Italian Grandparents of my future son in law.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I had never made biscotti before but always wanted to try. I had never made biscotti before but always wanted to try. Unfortunately, I didn't have any almonds so I made it without the nuts but used melted semi-sweet and white chocolate drizzled over the pieces. Everyone loved it, even my husband who is not a big biscotti fan. His major comment was how really good it will be when I make it again but using the almonds this time. This is a winner!!

I used half the chocolate, as I didn't have 36 tablespoons of cocoa (had to use because didn't have baking chocolate), but they still turned out very tasty. I melted semi-sweet chocolate chips and added orange zest for a little extra flavor! Very, very yummy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made this a couple of times and it is very good. Made this a couple of times and it is very good. I don't add the chocolate to the batter of the biscotti. Instead, after it has baked, I dip it longways in the melted chocolate. My family didn't believe I made it! It looks store bought. Everyone loves it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent recipe. This is an excellent recipe. I make it every Christmas. This year after rolling out my logs I was in such a hurry that I cut thru them b/4 baking. Just wanted cooks to know that this worked very well and seemed to go faster for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The flavor of the biscotti is okay. The flavor of the biscotti is okay. However, it was not easy to cut it before the '2nd bake'. It was breaking into pieces, very crumbled. I didn't get many pieces that looked good after that process.
