Chocolate-Candy Cane Cupcakes

What You Need

oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

cup oil

1/2

cup water

eggs

small candy canes, crushed, divided

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

CHOP 4 oz. chocolate; set aside. Beat next 6 ingredients with mixer until well blended. Stir in chopped chocolate and 2 Tbsp. candy. Spoon into 30 paper-lined muffin cups.

BAKE 20 to 23 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool cupcakes in pans 10 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.

MELT remaining chocolate; cool slightly. Frost cupcakes with COOL WHIP; drizzle with chocolate. Sprinkle with remaining candy.

How to Crush Candy Canes

You want to crush the candy to about a medium size. The candy inside the cupcakes melts to give a peppermint flavor and the candy on top provides a nice crunch.

These looked fantastic but I was disappointed there wasn't enough of a peppermint flavor in the cupcake, next time I will use peppermint extract.

I made these delicious cupcakes for a Sweet Swap Party I hosted. They were very moist and appealing to the eye! I got lots of compliments on them.

I used the cream cheese frosting recipe from the banana cake and they were to die for. The chocolate was so rich.(big pieces)

DELICIOUS! Very moist cupcakes with great topping - I added extra candy cane both in the cupcakes and on top. Very easy to make - the crowd loved them!

i made these for christmas and they were great. Everyone loved them. I did substitute vanilla icing for the Cool whip.

This recipe is so moist and yummy! I made it for a surprise party and before I left I had 5 people ask for the recipe. Will definitely make again.
