I followed the directions exactly, but the chocolate and cool whip turned hard and was very bitter. Instead, I used a package of sugar-free chocolate pudding made with 1-1/4 cup milk, mixed and then folded in the 2 cups of cool whip. I took this to a dinner and everyone thought it was delicious and wanted the recipe. I will definitely make this again, but not with the topping on the recipe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I thought this cake was delicious and I got rave reviews from family and friends. I thought this cake was delicious and I got rave reviews from family and friends. However, I had MAJOR issues with the top layer of icing and I think it's because the cool whip wasn't completely thawed. So I ended up buying a bottle of glaze that you heat in the microwave and squeeze on and it worked great! This is definitely going in my list of recipe desserts :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this cake numerous times. I've made this cake numerous times. The only thing I do differently is to make it into a layer cake with the peanut butter mixture layered in the middle. This is very easy to make and absolutely delicious! I make it often when asked to bring dessert and when I don't have much time. It is always a huge hit and I always get asked for the recipe.

I have made this several times, I have the same problem some of the others have with the chocolate topping. I'm going to try the pudding suggestion. Is there something else that could be mixed with the chocolate so it would not harden? I didn't have a problem with the taste, but it makes cutting the cake difficult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This cake is SOOOOO good! This cake is SOOOOO good!!. The peanut butter layer is just right - not too heavy yet rich and creamy. I made it as a layer cake - two rounds of the devil's food cake, the peanut butter layer in between and the chocolate frosting on top. The kids loved it, too. This will definitely go in my personal recipe book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made this cake for the holidays and everyone loved it. I made this cake for the holidays and everyone loved it. I eliminated the 6 squares of Chocolate & 2 cups of regular Cool Whip. I replaced that step with 2 cups of Chocolate Cool Whip. I used the remaining two kinds of Cool whip toppings for other recipes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall this was a good cake. Overall this was a good cake. The top layer turned out hard and impossible to spread, despite following the directions. I will probably make this again, but without the top layer. The middle layer works well as a frosting anyway!
