  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine dry cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk; press 2/3 onto bottom of 13x9-inch pan. Bake 12 to 14 min. or until center is almost set; cool 3 min.
  • Mix peanut butter and remaining milk until blended; spread onto crust. Top with small spoonfuls of the marshmallow creme and remaining cake mixture. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate; press gently into cake mixture.
  • Bake 18 min. or just until center is set. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Make Ahead

Prepare recipe as directed; cool completely. Do not cut into bars. Wrap dessert tightly; freeze up to 1 month. Thaw before cutting into bars.

Special Extra

For easy cleanup, line baking pan with foil using this easy method.  Turn pan upside down and fit a piece of foil over top of pan, smoothing corners as needed.  Remove foil.  When you turn the pan over, the foil fits perfectly inside the pan.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don't know what happened but this recipe just did not work for me! I don't know what happened but this recipe just did not work for me! Even though I pre-heated the oven, the devil's food cake never seemed to fully cook! (I know it's not my oven because I baked some cookies right after and they were fine). I had to place it back in the oven two or three additional times, and after letting it cool for more then an hour, I tried cutting it up. It made a huge mess!!! I'm attempting to cool them off in the refrigerator before continuing to cut them up. I'm so frustrated with this recipe that I'm just about ready to throw it in the trash!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I decided to make this because it looked yummy and easy. I decided to make this because it looked yummy and easy. It was only so-so in taste and it was not easy at all. It wasn't complicated, but the cake mix is difficult to spread out over such a large area in the pan, the milk doesn't really want to mix with the peanut butter and then trying to spread it over the cake was almost infuriating as it is so oily it just wants to move around on the cake, not actually stick to it. The marshmallow cream took forever to put on. I didn't bake it as long as the recipe called for because it just seemed way too long for the ingredients. The flavor wasn't bad, but the texture was "eh" and getting them out of the pan just made a mess - the edges were very dry and hard and the cake wanted to stick to the bottom of the pan. All-in-all, I wouldn't bother with this one again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This dessert is amazing. This dessert is amazing. A few helpful hints to thwart off other reviewer's issues: -Use Duncan Hines Super Moist Devil's Food Cake Mix. It kept my dessert nice and moist. -When mixing the peanut butter and remaining milk, whip it so it is blended completely. Whipping with a fork like you would for scrambled eggs should work - no mixer needed. This received tons of compliments and I would absolutely make this again. It was delicious!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good! Very good! I used semi-sweet morsels and it worked great. I liked the different combination of flavors in this brownie for for a new twist. The peanut butter with milk was a little difficult to spread on the warm brownie, but after a couple of tries, I got it. I was surprised that they stayed together, I thought the marshmallow cream might make them too sticky or gooey, but they stuck together pretty good. I will make these again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was awesome. This recipe was awesome. I did tweek it a bit, though. When spreading the peanut butter and milk mixture, I found it easier to warm it up a bit in the microwave. Once softened, it spread much easier. I also didn't have any marshmallow cream, so I used mini marshmallows instead. The bars came out great and very moist. Can't wait until I am done at work so I can go home and have another one!

I completely altered this recipe, I used marble cake mix instead of devils food, caramel for topping ice cream instead of peanut butter, miniature marshmallows instead of marshmallow cream, pecans instead of peanuts, and semi sweet chocolate chips instead of chocolate squares. This simplified the spreading, and was absolutely divine. Very rich, but my family raved. Debbie

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was so good! This was so good!! I made this for a cookie exchange. I thought i would do something just a bit different than everyone else. They turned out great and everyone loved them! I will definitly be putting this in my recipe box and will make again!! (Next time I might try the mini marshmallows rather than the creme. I found that the cream was a little hard to get on the top.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made these and took them to work to share. I made these and took them to work to share. Everyone loved them! They are easy to make and yummy. I do not like chopping up the chocolate bars, so I placed the bars in a baggie and broke them up with a hammer. Next time I plan to use chocolate morsels (it’s less messy). I did not like the peanuts in this, so I plan to use walnuts instead.
