Chocolate-Peppermint Crunch Bars

These bars have everything good: Chocolate, salt and peppermint. Something crunchy, something chewy. What more could you want in a dessert?

What You Need

 saltine crackers
cup  butter or margarine
cup  packed brown sugar
pkg.  (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Bittersweet Chocolate, chopped
cup  coarsely crushed candy canes

Make It

HEAT oven to 400ºF.

PLACE crackers in single layer on foil-covered rimmed baking sheet.

COOK butter and sugar in saucepan on medium-high heat until butter is melted and mixture is well blended, stirring occasionally. Bring to boil; cook 3 min. (Do not stir.) Pour over crackers; spread to evenly cover crackers.

BAKE 5 to 7 min. or until topping is golden brown. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate; let stand 5 min. or until softened. Spread over crackers; sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Cool. Break into pieces.
