  • Combine flour and salt; set aside. Bring water to full rolling boil in large saucepan. Remove from heat. Add flour mixture; stir until well blended. Cool 5 min.
  • Meanwhile, place a medium-size star tip in pastry bag. (Or, use cookie press fitted with star-shaped attachment.) Place dough in pastry bag; squeeze 6-inch lengths of dough onto large sheet of wax paper.
  • Heat oil in large deep skillet on medium-high heat. Add half of the dough strips; cook 5 min. or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining dough strips. Place churros on serving platter; sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar. Serve warm.

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome recipe! Awesome recipe! My 12 and 11 year-old boys and I made this today. It is the first time we ever fried anything and these turned out great! Be sure to wait until they are golden-brown with an emphasis on browner. Our first test one, was a bit doughy because we only cooked for 3 minutes. We cooked the next ones for 6 and they were great!

I was really excited for this recipe....my boyfriend LOVES churros so I decided to try and make the for him....They were more difficult then I thought they would be and if you dont have the batter and the oil just right then they do horribly....try using a light oil otherwise they really taste heavy and greasy....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love churros but I"m too lazy to make these. I love churros but I"m too lazy to make these. I take wontons, cut diagonally, and fry in a light oil till crispy, drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar when still warm. It's not exactly the same but they're still tasty! A lot like Mexican bunuelos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy recipe! Very Easy recipe! My family loved them. We actually added a sprinkle of Confectioners sugar over them and they were delish! You could do many variations of this recipe, by adding different toppings, etc. Love it! Gina
