Serve this classic side dish with a crisp, mixed green salad and cooked lean meat, poultry or fish.
Never use food from cans that are leaking, bulging, rusting, badly dented or have a foul odor. All are warning signs that a product may be contaminated with the bacteria that cause deadly botulism. Never taste food from suspect cans - discard the cans immediately.
Assemble recipe as directed. Refrigerate up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, bake (uncovered) in 350°F oven 45 to 50 min. or until heated through, topping with remaining onions for the last 5 min.

I made this recipe on Thanksgiving..It came out very very good..My whole family loved it.:) This will be one of our favorite recipes from now on.:)
Didn't like the cheese when I made it as written. Next time, I omitted the cheese, used two cans of GOLDEN mushroom soup mixed with 1/4 can of 2% milk and it was a whole lot better.
