  • Cook and stir onions in butter in medium saucepan on medium-high heat 3 to 5 min. or until onions are crisp-tender. Whisk in flour until well blended.
  • Add milk; cook and stir on medium heat 2 min., stirring occasionally. Add cream cheese; cook and stir 2 to 3 min. or until melted.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients; cook 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

Substitute

Prepare using 2% Milk VELVEETA.

    My husbands response was,"You have outdone yourself this time". He said it was just like the broccoli soup he used to buy at a resteraunt. I did a couple adjustments, I used fresh broccoli from our garden and steamed it until it was almost done. I also put 2 Tbs of concentrated chicken stock in the rue mixture. I served it with cheese to add as wanted and crumbled bacon for the top. Will make this soup again and again. 5 stars all the way.
