  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Cook onions in large skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium-high heat 5 to 7 min. or until crisp-tender, stirring frequently. Add cream cheese, broth and sugar; cook 5 to 7 min. or until cream cheese is melted and sauce is well blended, stirring frequently.
  • Place potatoes in 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; cover with sauce.
  • Bake 45 min. Combine cracker crumbs and nuts; sprinkle over potatoes. Bake 10 min. or until potatoes are tender.

Make Ahead

Assemble recipe as directed, except do not top with crumb mixture. Refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking (uncovered) as directed.

    I tried this recipe for Thanksgiving and was rather dissapointed by it. I think this recipe is suffering from an identity crisis. It calls for brown sugar and a whole chopped onion. The tastes are clashing and did not complement each other at all. Also, the sauce was rather runny and did not absorb into the "casserole" at all. I would not try this recipe again.

    !!!!!!!!!! very, very good. used half the crackers, more nuts and added a bit of brown sugar to the topping. also added a touch more brown sugar to the base. make sure you slice the potatoes au gratin style and give them plenty of room (used 13x9 and had 2 BIG sweet taters) ;) YUMM!!!!

    I forgot to say we added dried cranberries for an extra kick...yum!
