How to Purchase Chicken

When purchasing a chicken, look for one with a moist skin, tender flesh and fresh smell. Make sure that the chicken is very cold to the touch and that the package is not torn or leaking. Place chicken package inside a plastic bag before placing in the grocery cart to keep any juices from touching other food items.

How to Keep It Safe

Always purchase meat towards the end of a shopping trip so that it is out of refrigeration for the shortest time possible. Take home and refrigerate promptly. It is a good idea to put packages of raw meat in plastic bags to avoid any leakage onto other foods, especially produce.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We really enjoyed this dinner! We really enjoyed this dinner! A few tweaks... we used Italian style panko bread crumbs. Also, needed more spinach! Even for a family of 5 there wasn't near enough. We served it layered over homestyle mashed potatoes. Big Hit!
