  • Mix dressing, lemon juice and seasonings until well blended.
  • Spread dressing mixture evenly onto both sides of fish, then coat both sides evenly with coating mix. Discard any remaining coating mix. Place in single layer in greased shallow baking pan.
  • Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until fish flakes easily with fork.

How to Determine When Fish is Cooked

Fish is done when it looks opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Undercooked fish looks translucent, while overcooked fish looks dry and falls apart.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with hot cooked rice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this recipe for dinner tonight and it tasted "fantastic"! I made this recipe for dinner tonight and it tasted "fantastic"!! I used swai fish fillets brushed them with the mayo/lemon/italian seasoning/garlic powder (we like garlic) mixture, sprinkled bread crumbs over them then added salt and pepper. I had to bake them a little longer cause they were a thicker fillet, but they were soooo yummy. A good way to get fish in your diet! Loved it!!

We changed a few things and the whole family loved it- kids were asking for seconds... used mayo (not MW), fresh rosemary and fresh basil, no pepper, bread crumbs (not shake 'n bake)and mahi mahi (not orange roughy) b/c it is a thicker fish... Did not measure out the mayo, but rather just spread a little on each fish- 1/4 cup is WAY too much...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyed this quite a bit! Enjoyed this quite a bit! Used tilapia instead of the orange roughy, and I'll echo a couple of other comments here -- it needed an extra 5 minutes in the oven. I also used light mayo instead of the Miracle Whip because it was what was in the house at the time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from In my opinion this needs to be cooked 20 minutes.; 15 was still underdone. In my opinion this needs to be cooked 20 minutes.; 15 was still underdone. If you sprinkle some lemon over it after it's cooked, its a lot better. The recipe didn't call for any salt but the Shake n Bake is very salty on it's own. It's good but not wonderful.

All I used was the extra crispy style and baked for 15 min. and sprinkled the parmesean cheese and let bake another 5 mins. Very quick and easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don't eat fish very often but this is wonderful. I don't eat fish very often but this is wonderful. I've made it three times now. Can be a little too salty if you use too much of the seasoned coating. Goes great with the lemon pepper rice on this site, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe is great! This recipe is great!! I would use it again. I did not have any lemon juice so I used white wine. Also, I am not fond of rosemary, so I used onion powder and garlic powder. Family did enjoy!!
