Deep-Dish Sausage Pizza Bread

A hollowed-out French loaf is filled with turkey sausage, spinach, Parmesan and mozzarella cheese, then baked for a hearty entree.

What You Need

loaf (1 lb.) French bread

3/4

lb. thawed frozen LOUIS RICH Turkey Sausage

pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well drained

Tbsp. KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

cup KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Make It

HEAT oven to 375ºF.

CUT off top 1/3 of bread; scoop out insides, leaving 1/2-inch-thick shell. Reserve top and insides of bread for another use. Place bread shell on baking sheet.

COOK sausage in large skillet on medium-high heat 10 min. or until lightly browned, stirring frequently to break sausage into small pieces. Stir in spinach and Parmesan. Sprinkle 1/2 cup mozzarella onto bottom of bread shell; cover with sausage mixture and remaining mozzarella.

BAKE 20 min. or until mozzarella is melted and lightly browned.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a crisp mixed green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Light Dressing.

Special Extra

For added flavor, sprinkle lightly with Italian seasoning before baking as directed. Then, drizzle with warmed pizza sauce just before serving.

This is a great recipe. Add extra cheese/sausage to your liking. I make this once and a while. I remember once (and only once) I sprinkled oil and vinegar over it and baked. The flavors exploded! It was like nothing I've ever tasted.

I cut bread in half & used both halves. Left off spinach, put pizza sauce on first. Four of us ate it in one meal.

made 1 w/ meat and made 1 just veggs, (- meat + mushrooms, greenpeppers, black olves, onion and home grown tomatos) also added garlic and spices and a little extra cheese. Loved them.

Great concept but too much sausage and not enough spinach or cheese to make it all stick. Would do well to add some extra 'zing' also. Maybe some Italian spices or more garlic??? Easy, but needs some help...

This was a treat for young and old alike! I cut the pieces quite small and used them as appetizers.
