Used chorizo not ham, yellow and red peppers not green and chicken not beef broth and diced tomatoes not stewed. Used thawed frozen shrimp.(ok, but it is still the same) Very good, easy and quick (ok, simmer time 25 minutes but still.) Very hearty, my husband liked!! Will make again ++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband and I loved this recipe! My husband and I loved this recipe! It is the best recipe we've had off of this website. The flavors are great, and work together very well. I might try turkey kielbasa instead of ham next time to tone down the sodium without raising the fat content too much. Overall, great!

I substituted sauteed chicken for 1/2 the ham, cooking the chicken first, removing it and then adding to the rest of the recipe during the last 20 min. Also cooked rice separately, so lots of broth for dipping crusty warm Italian bread!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from After reading the good ratings I was suprised that we really did not like this recipe. After reading the good ratings I was suprised that we really did not like this recipe. To me it tasted a little to "canned" if that makes sense. Maybe using fresh tomatoes and more broth might make it work.
