Freshly grated ginger (and its ground counterpart) add terrific flavor to all kinds of savory dishes. Most famous are the Asian-style recipes, like stir-fries and noodle bowls, but you’ll also find it in all sorts of vegetable side dishes and soups. It plays particularly well with minced garlic in marinades for beef, fish and chicken. And dessertwise, it’s a proven winner in lemon treats, carrot cakes, apple crisps and pumpkin desserts of all kinds. And (it goes without saying) it’s essential in classic gingerbread recipes!
