What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) cake mix, any flavor

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

3 or 4

drops each: red and blue food coloring

roll ring-shaped hard candy

1/4

cup assorted small candy balls

Make It

PREPARE and bake cake mix as directed on package for 13x9-inch baking pan. Cool completely. Transfer cake to a cutting board; cut into pieces as shown in photo and diagram below.

TINT whipped topping with food coloring. Using small amount of whipped topping to hold pieces together, arrange cake on serving tray as directed in tip below.

FROST cake with remaining whipped topping. Decorate with candy.

How to Cut Up Cake

(Click here to print diagram.) Attach section B (the head) to top of neck. Attach section C (the tail) to back of body. Place the 4 D triangles along the dinosaur's back for spikes.

Fun Idea

Take a table knife and run it through the frosted cake before positioning the candies to give the dinosaur scaly or wrinkly skin.

I made this for my 3 year old, he loved it! I used regular icing and used green icing spray. The swirls in the icing made it look scaly.

I made this cake for my son's birthday. He loved it. I used store bought frosting which I tinted. Also, I found plain M&Ms to decorate it with. I didn't have enough room to cut out the triangles that go on the back. However, the cake still looked good.

I made this for my sons birthday party. He and everyone loved it! The cut out make it very easy! I just decorated it with piping bag, and green icing! It came out wonderful for my little dinosaur lover!

Actuallly my husband made the cake he did such an excellent job. My son loved it he was soo surprise and our guests loved it as well.

I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT CAKE FOR CHILDREN MY KIDS AGE! MY THREE YEAR OLD AT THE AGE THAT HE WANTS TO SEE WHAT BOYS THINGS HE LIKES!

It would have been easier to cut out the cake if the picture was bigger. It was hard to read the numbers to get the size right. Other than that, the directions were easy to follow. I made this for my son's 9th birthday and he LOVED IT. I am sure that I will make this again.
