What You Need

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (Do not thaw.), divided

pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix

pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

1/4

cup plus 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar, divided

1/2

tsp. milk

NILLA Wafers

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

jar (10 oz.) maraschino cherries, well drained, chopped

strip peelable red licorice

JET-PUFFED Marshmallows

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

REFRIGERATE 1/3 of the COOL WHIP. Return remaining COOL WHIP to freezer. Prepare cake batter; blend in dry pudding mix. Bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round layers. Cool cakes in pans 10 min.; invert onto wire racks. Cool completely.

MEANWHILE, mix 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar and milk. Brush onto wafers. Microwave frozen COOL WHIP and chopped chocolate on HIGH 1-1/2 min. or until chocolate is melted, stirring after 1 min. Cool 15 min. to thicken.

BEAT cream cheese and remaining sugar with whisk until well blended. Stir in cherries and thawed COOL WHIP. Stack cake layers on plate, filling with cream cheese mixture. Frost with chocolate mixture. Decorate with wafers and remaining ingredients to resemble a drum and sticks. Refrigerate leftovers.

Instead of using the cherries in when I made for the company christmas party I used frozen whole strawberries and it was really good

This was easier to make than I thought and really delicious. It was so pretty that no one wanted to cut into it, but once they did they liked it!

Horrible recipe! I will never make this again. The choc & whip cream together for the icing was like water; even after putting it in the fridge, it still oozed off the cake! It also was light brown, not like what you see in the pic! I had to make my own frosting with the rest of the semi-sweet choc and regular icing. 95% of it went in the garbage. What a waste of money and time! I'll stick with the clasics. I'm very disapointed that kraft would even put such a horrible recipe on their site!

I MAKE THIS CAKE FOR CHRISTMAS WHEN I PUT THE TOP CAKE OVER THE CHERRY FILLING THE TOP CAKE CAME APART I WAS FRESH MAYBE YOU WANT TO MAKE THE BREAD CAKE ONE DAY AHEAD ALSO THE GANACHE CAKE FILLING A RUNT OUT OF THAT THE RECIPE SAID 4 SQUARES OF SEMISWEET CHOCOLATE AND WHIPPED CREAM I HAVE TO MAKE MORE CAKE FILLING FOR SE SIDES OF THE CAKE...

I made this cake for our annual Deacon Bake Off at our church, which is held each year after the Children's Christmas Play. I won for Most Creative Cake. I learned a lot while I was making it and the video helped me out so much. Thank you! Chad Madison, NC

I loved the recipe but instead of the maraschino cherry filling I used cool whip with a bit of strawberry moose-like yogurt (the very thick one) and fresh strawberries and it came out wonderful !!! The gonache was amazing and I decorated with fresh strawberries on top - absolutely delish.
