I used brown rice instead of white rice, and I also used fresh broccoli florets and fresh ginger that was grated. the only bad thing and it is no bad, just a bit time comsuming was grating the fresh ginger. I thought it was tasty and I added a sprinkle of salt and fresh black pepper to the meat before stir-frying it and the dish went over very well, considering asking for a tablespoon of ginger and it did not overpower the dish at all. it was good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick and easy This is a quick and simple dinner for the whole family. I have used it for the past 9 years and everyone still loves it. Even my very picky 9 year old who dislikes sauces and any veggie but she eats this all up. I skip the ginger altogether because we do not care for it. Sometimes I add a little water and let the broccoli simmer longer so it is nice and tender. For my family of four, I use 3cups of rice and sometimes add a little more meat as well but not always. I do sprinkle some seasoned salt to the meat while it is cooking. Once in a while, one of my sons will ask that I add a little water to thin the sauce a bit so he can pour it over his rice. You can always add more sauce too but so far we haven't had a need to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was very good and easy to make. It was very good and easy to make. I did add soy sauce to give it more of the traditional chinese taste. I used brown rice instead of white and loved it and I also doubled my meat. Also, I used ground ginger and only about 1/2 of what was called for. You have to be a ginger fan to use the whole amount. Overall, I recommend for an easy / quick meal :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm a huge fan of Beef and Brocolli dish in general, but I definetely was not a fan of this one. I'm a huge fan of Beef and Brocolli dish in general, but I definetely was not a fan of this one. I made it to directions (seasoned it with salt and pepper, and used brown rice though). It was super easy and fast. But I think having Catalina dressing in it made it too sweet and yet strangely flat flavor at the same time. But just like another reviewer suggested, I will try it with Asian Sesame dressing next time. I'm not giving up this easy. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LOVE BROCCOLI AND WHITE RICE WITH EXTRA SAUCE FROM THE CHINESE RESTAURANT. I LOVE BROCCOLI AND WHITE RICE WITH EXTRA SAUCE FROM THE CHINESE RESTAURANT. I EVEN USED THAI RICE, HOWEVER, WHEN I MADE IT LAST NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SAUCE TO COVER MY RICE. I THINK I WOULD NEED MORE OF THE CATALINA, HOISIN, AND GINGER ROOT. I MAY EVEN PLAY WITH IT BY SUBSTITUTING THE BEEF FOR SHRIMP OR EVEN CHICKEN. THANKS FOR IT ALL.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Well, first I couldn't find Hoisin Sauce anywhere at the grocery store. Well, first I couldn't find Hoisin Sauce anywhere at the grocery store. I even asked a clerk and they had no clue what I was talking about. I had done some research about Hoisin Sauce before I went to the store, so I got a sauce with close to the same ingredients. The recipe was not so good. We ended up ordering pizza!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This recipe was good. This recipe was good. Being a working mom, simplicity is a must. However, I would substitute the hoisin with 2 tbsp. soy sauce and 1/3 ketchup. I would keep the French dressing, but reducing it to 1/3 cup. My family & I are carbohydrate conscious, so we would also replace the white rice with whole grain or brown rice.
