Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was GREAT! This recipe was GREAT! I had three guys (big eaters) and two women for dinner, so I increased the meat by 1/2 pound, increased the pasta by 1 cup, increased the Parmesan cheese to 1/2 cup, and increased the Mozarella to 2 cups. I baked for 1/2 hour. I used a 26 oz. jar of Barilla spaghetti sauce, and added one small can of tomato sauce to make sure it wasn't dry. I also added 1/2 cup of chopped onion and about 1/3 cup of finely chopped green pepper to the meat while browning it. Everyone really liked this and I will definitely make it again. Check this casserole closely because this hot of an oven will crisp up the top fairly quickly. One half hour was definitely enough for this, even with the increased load in the pan (I used a Pyrex 13 x 9 pan). I had one large serving left with all these people (my grandson ate a small amount also - he seemed to like it too :-) and ate it for lunch over the next two days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been making this once or twice a month for about the past year and a half. I've been making this once or twice a month for about the past year and a half. It's quick, inexpensive, and filling. I usually add more cheese, and I've used boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-size pieces) instead of the beef. Sometimes, I add a can of diced tomatoes for texture and sometimes I mix a cup or so of shredded mozza into the sauce. A great recipe!

We didn't have quite enough mozzarella cheese so we just added some colby jack and it worked great. I also added 2 cloves minced garlic and some italian seasoning to the ground beef while browning. We even had leftovers the next day and we were still raving about this recipe! It's a keeper!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was good, but not great. This was good, but not great. I think I will try it again but I will change a few things. One I won't use the whole wheat pasta, it seemed to not cook as well. I am also going to mix the cheese in instead of just on top. Also I will try covering with foil, the top layer seemed to dry out too much. Hope these works because other than those problems it tasted good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous! Fabulous! I made a few tweaks and everyone loved it! I mixed the noodles with the meat and sauce plus a small can of sauce and diced zuchini. Then I layered it like lasagna: noodle/sauce mixture, parm/ mozz cheese and a few dollops of cottage cheese, noodle/sauce, etc. I baked it covered til about 5 minutes at the end. It was moist and so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I translated 3 cups of cooked penne to roughly 12oz. I translated 3 cups of cooked penne to roughly 12oz. for my recipe, but I rarely measure anything (it's a curse I inherited from my grandmother). The kids gobbled it up, my picky son had seconds and asked if there was enough to eat for dinner tomorrow!!! I will definitely be making this again. BTW, I used Ragu garden combination. YUMMY!!!

I added some sliced multi-colored peppers, onion, garlic, a little bit of red pepper flakes and extra mozzarella on the top. Fixed some garlic bread, salad and we had a complete meal. Very, very good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Italian Pasta Bake was excellent. The Italian Pasta Bake was excellent. I made it 2 ways, 1 with Ground Turkey and 1 with Ground Round. They both came out excellent and the flavor was fantastic. I took the Ground Round to church and there was not a speck of pasta left from the potluck...My husband loved the Turkey one I made. He said it was excellent.

When I read the comment from VanEman that he/she (?) added extra sauce so that pasta would not be on the dry side, I decided to add some cottage cheese to give the dish some additional liquid and flavouring. It turned out superb. I also added the onions as well as sine diced pepper as suggested by Dani5358.

It turned out ok though I did alter the recipe by using 1/2 lb of turkey meat with 1/2 lb of smoked sausage. Suggest using 2 cups of pasta as the 3 cups require more sauce. Mozzarella cheese didn't melt very well. Maybe try a italian blend of shredded cheese or a cheddar/jack blend.

The cheese melted on top nicely, although next time I'll mix the mozzerella into the pasta as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this done even faster than the recipe required. I got this done even faster than the recipe required. I used Kraft shredded pizza cheese on top and broiled it for a few minutes rather than baking it for 20 minutes, because everything was already heated except the cheese. It was so good. A great comfort food. Very flavorful.
