  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Return to skillet. Add pasta, pasta sauce and half the Parmesan; mix well.
  • Spoon into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; top with remaining cheeses.
  • Bake 20 min. or until heated through.

Storing Ground Beef

Store ground beef in the coldest part of the refrigerator for up to 2 days. (The refrigerator temperature should be no higher than 40°F.) For longer storage, wrap the meat tightly in foil or freezer-weight plastic wrap and store in the freezer. When thawing, place the meat on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator to prevent any drippings from cross-contaminating other foods.


Prepare using regular penne pasta.


Substitute 2 cups frozen BOCA Ground Crumbles for the browned ground beef - no need to thaw before using as directed.


Prepare using ground turkey or Italian sausage.

Special Extra

Add 1 tsp. Italian seasoning and 3 minced garlic cloves to ground beef before browning in skillet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this several times. I've made this several times. Family and friends love it and it freezes well. I have learned to cut back on the amount of pasta or the amount of beef because without doing so the dish is a little too dry for our likes. I also brown some chopped onion and/or minced garlic with the meat for extra flavor and use two cups of mozzarella. Thanks Kraft for this lovely easy basic recipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband was not too thrilled when I mentioned that I was making this for dinner. My husband was not too thrilled when I mentioned that I was making this for dinner. He asked me to put extra spaghetti sauce in the recipe, so I put in 2 jars instead of the 1 jar recommended. I also seasoning some italian sausage (with italian seasoning I bought at a specialty store) and added some red and green pepper flakes. The first words out of my husband's mouth when he tasted this were "YUM ... This is definately a keeper." My two daughters gave the recipe a double thumbs up. Thank You!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made a similar recipe that was on the pasta box. I made a similar recipe that was on the pasta box. I already has the sauce made up and in the freezer. I use jar sauce that I doctor up with lots of garlic,Italian spices and ground beef. I usually make a double recipe and put one quart in the freezer for later. I used rigatoni pasta. The cheese I mixed in was an Italian mix and I used mozzarella cheese on top and cooked the whole thing in the microwave. It probably would have had a nice crust if put in the oven the last 10 minutes but it still tasted delicious.

My kids have never complained and would prefer this over spaghetti anyday. This is such a simple recipe. I make it and take it to church gatherings or just make it for family members that ask for it. I ususally add a little more cheese because the kids love the cheese. Toss a salad together and some garlic toast and you are set. My favorite thing about the recipe is that it is quick compaired to alot a pasta dishes. Hope everyone enjoys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this recipe but used 1/2 lb ground beef mixed with 1/2 lb of Italian sausage. I made this recipe but used 1/2 lb ground beef mixed with 1/2 lb of Italian sausage. Also, instead of using Parmesan and Romano cheese, I used an Italian style 6-cheese blend of Parmesan, Romano, Mozarella, Provolone, Fontina, and Asiago cheeses. I also added sauteed mushrooms and onions. OUTSTANDING!!! This dish is delicious! My husband and I are crazy about it. You will not be disappointed. Thank you so much, Kraft!

I used the tips at the bottom and added the Tbsp of italian seasoning and the 3 cloves of minced garlic. I also added a medium onion, minced (I think onion adds so much flavor to any dish). I think next time I'll add a few pepperoni's cut in half for some extra meat. It reminds me of a dish my mom used to make and I bet she spent more time making it than I did making this! Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is very good! This is very good! Fast and easy. I used rotini pasta which worked well plus Ragu Mushroom spaghetti sauce. I probably used more mozzarella than recipe called for since I did not measure and just covered the top. You want to let this rest when it comes out of the oven...it tastes better plus you won't burn your mouth! The only change I made was to add some Italian seasoning to the meat when I fried it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great recipe, very good and very easy! Great recipe, very good and very easy! I added chopped onions, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt to ground round. The next time I make it I will either use less penne pasta or more spaghetti sauce. It was a little dry for my taste. Also, I might add mushrooms. Be sure to use the Italian seasoning or I can see that it might be a little bland. I will definately make it again with a few changes.
