  • Melt butter in medium saucepan on medium heat. Stir in flour until well blended. Cook on medium-low heat 2 min. or until mixture forms a smooth paste and is golden brown in color, stirring constantly with whisk.
  • Add broth gradually, stirring until well blended. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring frequently.
  • Stir in coffee granules, thyme and pepper.


For poultry gravy, prepare as directed using chicken broth.

Make Ahead

Gravy can be made a few hours ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to serve. Reheat in saucepan or in microwave just before serving.
