Easy Make-Ahead Thanksgiving Gravy

Things are harried enough on Thanksgiving day—but you can still enjoy homemade gravy with this easy make-ahead version.

2 cups or 16 servings, 2 Tbsp. each

What You Need

1/4
cup  butter or margarine
1/4
cup  flour
1
can  (14-1/2 oz.) fat-free reduced-sodium beef broth
1
tsp.  MAXWELL HOUSE Instant Coffee
1/4
tsp.  dried thyme leaves
1/4
tsp.  ground black pepper

Make It

MELT butter in medium saucepan on medium heat. Stir in flour until well blended. Cook on medium-low heat 2 min. or until mixture forms a smooth paste and is golden brown in color, stirring constantly with whisk.

ADD broth gradually, stirring until well blended. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring frequently.

STIR in coffee granules, thyme and pepper.

Variation
For poultry gravy, prepare as directed using chicken broth.
Make Ahead
Gravy can be made a few hours ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to serve. Reheat in saucepan or in microwave just before serving.
