pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Gelatin, any flavor

cup warm water

1-3/4

cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows, divided

pieces red string licorice (1 in.)

cup ready-to-spread vanilla frosting

Make It

MIX gelatin and water in medium microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 min.; stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.

SET aside 12 of the marshmallows. Add remaining marshmallows to gelatin; stir until well blended. Microwave on HIGH 1 min. or until marshmallows are partially melted. Stir with wire whisk until marshmallows are completely melted. Pour into 9-in. square pan sprayed with cooking spray.

REFRIGERATE 45 min. or until set. Run sharp knife around edges of pan to loosen gelatin layer from pan. Starting at one short end, roll up gelatin layer tightly. Cut into 12 (3/4-inch-thick) strips. Refrigerate, covered, until ready to decorate.

UNROLL each about 1 inch. Stand 1 of the reserved marshmallows on unrolled portion of each spiral for the "snail's body," securing with frosting. Insert 2 pieces of licorice into each marshmallow for "antennae," securing with additional frosting, if desired.

To Double

Prepare gelatin mixture as directed, doubling all ingredients. Pour into 13x9-inch pan. Refrigerate as directed. For ease in handling, cut gelatin mixture in half crosswise before rolling up. Roll up each half separately, making a total of 2 rolls. Cut each roll into 12 slices. Decorate as directed. Makes 24 servings, 1 snail each.

These are soo cute! Not hard to make, I made the window box dessert and added these along with the flower cookies, the kids loved it.

The kids loved them, they giggled the whole time they ate them. I took it to my family 4th of July get together and everyone was impressed, even the adults thought they were cute! thanks.

I had the same problem. I couldn't get the head to stay rolled. Too much work and not worth it.

Mine wouldn't stick either so I cut them larger (I only got 8 servings) and placed them seam side down on the plate. Then to keep the proportion in check I used one regular instead of a mini next to the roll which also made it much easier to get the antenae in. Overall not too much work for the payoff. Very cute on the kids plates.

Was difficult to keep the snail body together and to get the licorice to stay. Not sure it was worth the effort. Only wished mine turned out as yummy looking as the picture.

Honestly this was a pain. I made these and the brownie mud puddle cake for my son's birthday party. The cake was a hit and kind of fun, but these snails were more trouble than they were worth. I couldn't get them to stay rolled, the marshmallow head wouldn't stay on and the "eye stalks" just wouldn't go in. The up side is the kids didn't care, they ate them anyway. I thought they were way too sweet, but kids thought they tasted great.

I think this recipie is GREAT! it was great for my son he loved the snail idea!
