THIS IS A GREAT RECIPE AND ONE I HAVE MADE BEFORE BUT EMBELISHED IT BY ADDING THE ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF FRESH VEGGIES I HAVE HAD ON HAND IN THE SUMMER..I HAVE EVEN USED SPAGHETTI THATS BROKEN INTO SMALL BITS BEFORE COOKING AND EVERYBODY LOVED IT. THIS DISH BECOMES A MEAL WHEN I ADD CHOPPED RED ONIONS, CELERY, RADISHES AND BELL PEPPERS (ANY & ALL COLORS) AND CUBED OR PULLED ROASTED CHICKEN..I HAVE ALSO USED DIFFERENT SALAD DRESSINGS SUCH AS CREAMY ITALIAN , CAESAR AND EVEN RANCH..ALL I SERVE IT WITH CRUSTY FRENCH BREAD . THEY ARE ALL GOOD & ITS A GREAT DISH TO PREPARE THE DAY BEFORE NEEDED

I dont like olives so I replaced it with cucumbers- works beatifully. I also dont add the parm cheese. Tastes great. try this recipe and you'll make it over and over!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this recipe numerous times. I've made this recipe numerous times. It's a great summer dinner, or picnic side dish. In addition to olives, broccoli and tomatoes, I use cauliflower, marinated artichoke hearts, sliced carrots, and avocado (add just before serving). Also, a little extra seasoning, such as oregano adds flavor. You can use almost any veggie to add color and variety. I've also used fat free dressing mixed with light done right. Using only fat free lacks in flavor. Great salad to make and refrigerate... it gets better as the flavors absorb.

There are a lot of variations: You can add a little crushed red pepper for a kick, use a different variety of italian dressing, use frozen broccoli, use raw zuchinni or yellow squash, etc. It's a really great dish! I usually add some dressing when I make it, then add the remaining dressing to taste right before serving (otherwise, it seems to absorb to much of the sauce).

My family loves pasta salad. It's a dish you can make many ways each time.I like to add black olives, red onions, asparagus, celery, fresh squash, zuchinni, bell peppers, bacon bits, mild peppers, stuffed tortellini (you can cook these for about 5 minutes and with 3 minutes left add your asparagus and rinse with cold water). *A tip I have found great to cut down on the tartness with Italian Dressing is adding sugar to the salad.

I have been making this recipe since I first found it in a Kraft magazine ad years ago - maybe 10 years? The original recipe also called for crumbled bacon. I increase the amount of grated parmesan cheese, and I sometimes add freshly shredded parmesan cheese. This has become one of my summertime, often-requested signature dishes. Without the bacon, it makes a wonderful meal for my vegetarian friends.
