  • Process sugar and 1/2 cup coconut in food processor until coconut is finely chopped. Place mixture in shallow dish; set aside.
  • Place dates, nuts, raisins, cherries, cocoa powder, five-spice powder and remaining coconut in food processor. Use pulsing action to process until finely chopped, stopping to scrape down sides as necessary. Add peanut butter; process until mixture can form a ball.
  • Shape mixture into 28 (about 1-inch) balls. Roll balls in coconut mixture, gently patting mixture onto sides of balls.

Substitute ground cinnamon for the Chinese five-spice powder.
