  • Beat egg with wire whisk in large saucepan. Gradually add milk, beating until well blended. Add dry pudding mix; stir 2 minutes or until well blended. Stir in rice and raisins.
  • Bring to full rolling boil on medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Cool 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour evenly into 10 dessert dishes or 1-1/2-quart serving bowl.
  • Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve warm. Or, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Variation

For chilled pudding, place plastic wrap on surface of hot pudding. Refrigerate about 1 hour. Stir before serving; sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Substitute

Prepare as directed, using JELL-O Coconut Cream Flavor Cook & Serve Pudding.

I like to add 1/2-3/4 cup rasins, instead of the 1/4 cup it calls for and I also add 1/2 tsp of Vanilla flavoring also. I enjoy the rich Vanilla flavoring it has. My Grandmother really enjoy it as well and everyone in my family thinks her's is the best, but they like this one because it's faster to make. You have to try it just once!! ;-))

I use to make this recipe when you used the name creamy rice pudding and I could always find the recipe on the side of the box. My paper that I had wrote the recipe on got destroyed from being used so much. (at least 14 yrs now). But I finally found the same recipe on your site. Back to making the best rice pudding my family likes. My husband would even make this recipe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I was so bummed though when I made it... No raisins in the house. I don't personally like nutmeg, so I left that part out. Years ago, when my father-in-law was terminally ill, he had a taste for rice pudding. I made this recipe for him and it completely brightened his day! This is a great recipe and worth the minimal effort it requires!

I'm sitting here waiting for the rice to soften before going to a family gathering that I was taking this to. But with the rice being uncooked, and I had no instant rice on hand, the rice is still hard. I'll try this again when I have more time.

Very creamy, not too sweet, and has a great flavor. My kids aren't very fond of raisins mixed in foods, so I diced 3 small fresh peaches and it was EXCELLENT! This is the easiest recipe....much quicker than baking.

I just tore up my kitchen looking for it. I haven't seen my copy of the recipe since I moved. I have been making this for my family since 1996. It delicious with the vanilla pudding or with the coconut pudding. We all love it!!!

I have been making this recipe for years and since I moved 2 years ago, I haven't been able to find it.I was so Happy to find it again on this site. It is the best, easiest desert I have ever had and I eat the whole thing by myself. (But NOT at one time.) It is the BEST!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had some leftover coconut rice I wanted to use up. Had some leftover coconut rice I wanted to use up. Added one more egg and a little less milk. It was very creamy and had the best flavor of any rice pudding I have made. Will make this my standard rice pudding recipe!
