  • Stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to cold water to measure 1-1/2 cups. Add to gelatin; stir until ice is completely melted. Remove 2 cups of the gelatin; place in small bowl. Refrigerate 5 min. or until gelatin is the consistency of unbeaten egg whites. Carefully spoon into crust. Refrigerate 10 min.
  • Meanwhile, add 2 cups of the whipped topping to remaining gelatin; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Refrigerate 10 min. or until mixture is thick and will mound. Carefully spoon over gelatin layer in crust.
  • Refrigerate at least 3 hours or until firm. Serve topped with the remaining whipped topping. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.

Very delicious, I made it with the lime jello, and it was very tart, so i added red sugar to some of the left over cool whip, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then poured it on top of the pie and swirled it around. It looked nice (very christmasy, which was good since it was a christmas present), and it cut down some of the tartness. Very easy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pie. Great Pie. I made it for Easter Dinner, for the past two years. Everybody loves it, and asks for again every year. It has become a staple at Easter Dinner. I made it with the lime jello, and they told me not to make with any other favor. I had tried cherry jello. They wanted the lime jello.

Maybe I'm just not good with Jell-O, but this didn't set correctly and was so mushy my husband wouldn't even eat it. Taste was ok, but the cool whip on top didn't need the extra reserved for it.
