Football Field Dessert

I made this recipe for the Superbowl and everyone loved it. This will be one of my staple desserts I make for football season. I loved this recipe. I highly recommend it!

What You Need

cups cold milk

pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

pkg. (10.75 oz.) prepared pound cake, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

chocolate-coated caramel-peanut nougat bars (2.07 oz. each), chopped (about 1-1/2 cups)

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided

Green food coloring

Make It

POUR milk into medium bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min.; set aside. Spread cake cubes into bottom of 13x9-inch dish; sprinkle with chopped candy. Top with pudding.

REMOVE 1/2 cup of the whipped topping; cover and refrigerate for later use. Tint remaining whipped topping with desired amount of food coloring; spread over pudding. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.

PIPE reserved whipped topping onto dessert to resemble the yard lines of a football field. Use the remaining whipped topping to draw a football in the center of the field. Cut into 16 squares to serve. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.

How to Thaw COOL WHIP

Place unopened tub in refrigerator. An 8-oz. tub will be completely thawed in 4 hours. Do not thaw in microwave.

How to Pipe Whipped Topping

Insert decorating tip in pastry bag or small plastic food bag. Fill with thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping. Holding bag firmly, squeeze topping down into tip. Twist end of bag to keep topping contained, then guide tip to decorate.

Made this for Superbowl, super easy, I used chessecake flavored pudding. I was asked to make it again for Easter.

Not as big of a hit as everyone elses comments. I'll try it again because it was good, some of my other desserts are much bigger hits

You would not believe how fast this dessert goes! I made this last Superbowl and it was GONE by the 4th quarter. My boyfriend's father loved it so much (and he's not a dessert person!) that they told me to make it again for Thanksgiving. I didn't color the whipped topping that time and drew a cartoon turkey and "Happy Thanksgiving" with gel icing. The kids love it too! I'll probably be "forced" to make this again for Xmas! :)

I could not find the football figures in time for our playoff football party. Instead I bought a box of crushed Oreo cookie crumbs. I used the crumbs to create a football shape on top of a layer of green cool whip (made with food coloring). I then used a cake decorating bag to pipe on a few laces using the left over cool whip. This dessert was a big hit at the party!!!

I made this for a teen superbowl party (2003) and it was a hit. The teens licked the bottom of the pan. I crushed mint oreo cookies and replaced that with the crushed candy bar. You need to buy the figurines early in the season at a party store. Making it again this year;) !
