CUT okra into 1/4-inch-thick slices; sprinkle with cold water.
MIX corn flake crumbs, cornmeal, flour and seasonings in shallow dish. Add okra; toss lightly to evenly coat with crumb mixture.
DEEP-FRY okra in 1 to 2 inches hot shortening in large skillet or saucepan until golden brown. Serve hot.
