Frosty Orange Cups

I put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes to make it like a soft serve, topped with whipped cream and handed my kids spoons!

what you need

pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Orange Flavor Gelatin

cup boiling water

cups vanilla ice cream, softened

Make It

DISSOLVE gelatin in water. Gradually add ice cream, stirring with wire whisk until well blended.

SPOON evenly into 4 dessert cups, then refrigerate for 20 minutes or until chilled.

My boys (4 yr, 11yr, 14yr) loved this one. They said it tastes like orange creme soda. **My only change to the recipe was that I chilled it in the freezer, not the fridge. We'll definitely try the lemon version too.

I just "found" this recipe again after about 20 years! When I made it back then, it was the best with lemon jello...light and tangy.

The taste isn't bad, but the texture was hard to get past. Very spongy.

My after school cooking class loved this quick and easy desert. We used sugar-free jello and frozen vanilla yogurt in one group and the other group followed the recipe. Both were great.

I was expecting a creamy dessert like mousse but it was thick and spongy. The taste was bland so I do not recommend using sugar free Jell-O or fat free ice cream.
