  • Melt chocolate as directed on package. Meanwhile, insert a wooden pop stick into cut end of each banana piece.
  • Dip bananas in chocolate, or brush chocolate onto banana pieces with pastry brush. Roll bananas in cereal, completely coating all sides.
  • Freeze bananas 4 hours or until firm. Store in airtight container in freezer.

How to Quickly Ripen Bananas

Bananas ripen best at room temperature. To quickly ripen bananas or other fruits, place the fruit in a brown paper bag and close the bag tightly. The fruit will give off a gas as it ripens. When contained in the closed bag, the gases will cause the fruit to ripen more quickly.

I didn't make this exact recipe, but I made something like it for our church's VBS this year. I took banana halves and dipped them in lemon juice, refrigerate, and the kids used Whipped Chocolate Pillsbury icing and made spots on the bananas or some covered them completely! We had one complaint that the lemon juice made the bananas a little sour, but with the icing they were delicious! Next time maybe we'll try this recipe.

I made this receipe many years ago and kept thinking that I was doing something wrong when making them again. I then realized that when I made them before I inserted the popcycle stick into the banana and then froze them prior to dipping them into what ever coating I had on hand. My favorite was always nuts. The warm chocolate stuck better to the banana likewise the coatings. Golightly234

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe is great! This recipe is great! The frozen banana actually tastes like creamy ice cream! You should try to eat them right away (within a day or two) because the cereal begins to taste stale - even when it's in an airtight container.

I had no problems w/this recipe and everyone loved them -even the hubby!! Will make again - will probably try some different toppings!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I liked it, but it lacked flavor. I liked it, but it lacked flavor. Instead of using 6 bananas, I would use 4 or 5. That way, it would be more flavorful. Also, I used nuts. I think they probably taste better and more traditional that way.
