I've eaten these at summer pot lucks, but never knew how they made that delicious desert! I was so happy to see this recipe! I am chronically ill, and tire rapidly when upright, but I was able to make this! That's how easy it is! And the deliciousness factor was off the scale! My daughter had never been treated to this, and I was excited to present it to her, and say "I made this!" (mom hasn't been able to cook for about 2 years now)! She loved it and I felt like a nurturer again. I love this recipe!

This was awesome. I used a white cake, raspberry jello and another little icing recipe I got from kraft where I fold vanilla pudding mix, one cup of milk and cool whip. The icing is really good and no one knows it is cool whip. I used red food coloring to make it pink and everyone thought it was from scratch. $1 cake mix, $1 jello + coolwhip. It is really inexpensive. I'm a home baker and a lot of desserts can get really pricey. Will definately make again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this cake. LOVE this cake. Can make it so many flavors. Our all time favorite is the lime, but I have done, grape, peach (really good), strawberry-banana, cherry...they are all so good. I tint the cool whip to match the jello flavor. I usually double the recipe. I agree with leaving out the cold water for the jello (better flavor to jello).

Trying to cut the fat in our diet has made dessert difficult, this is a great solution for a low fat dessert. I used a white cake mix and substituted unsweetened applesauce for the oil, and three whole eggs, 1 cup of water, works great although it takes a little longer to mix the ingredients. After the cake was cooled 15 minutes I poked holes with the handle of a wooden spoon. I used strawberry jello but the combinations like previous reviewers said are endless. No whipped cream just fresh strawberries to top. Yummy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Summertime favorite for years I have been making this for years everyone loves how refreshing it is. I do modify the frosting to add more flavor...... prepare a box of vanilla instant pudding, then mix with cool-whip and spread on cake. Delicious!
