I am a veteran of making "Gingerbread" holiday houses. I have been a volunteer in several youth organizations [BSA, CYO, Job's Daughters, The Demolays, etc.]. In addition I belong to the Cookie Cutter Collector's Club and the International Cake Exploration Society-we always made a new version of these "houses" every year. At times there were contests; then we taught the children and interested adults how to make one for a gift; then there were the cookie exchanges and creating a 100 of one type of cookie to assemble collections to pack up and take to a Ronald McDonald House or to The Old Soldier's Home-in each of these group settings we always sent at least one "house" for a decoration.
This is very satisfying to a food hobbiest.
Fun activity for the kids!
