  • Spray 2 (9-inch) round pans with cooking spray; cover bottoms with waxed paper. Prepare cake batter as directed on package, substituting 1 cup sour cream for all the water. Stir in 2 Tbsp. coffee granules; pour into prepared pans. Bake as directed on package. Cool in pans 10 min.; remove from pans to wire racks. Immediately remove waxed paper. Cool cakes completely.
  • Dissolve remaining coffee granules in hot water. Melt dipping chocolate as directed on tub. Stir in butter, coffee and remaining sour cream until blended; pour 1/3 cup into medium bowl. Whisk in COOL WHIP.
  • Stack cake layers on plate, spreading COOL WHIP mixture between layers. Pour remaining warm glaze over cake, allowing excess to drip down side. Top with berries. Refrigerate 30 min. or until glaze is firm.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I thought the cake was alright. I thought the cake was alright. I think that maybe it was a little too much chocolate for me. It was a spectacular hit at the party I brought it to. Everyone else loved it. Tip: Do not refrigerate it too long. The frosting gets very hard. And also add as much of the filling to the middle (even if it means doubling the batch). It will add to the look of the cake and also help with the taste. Easy on the coffee if you don't like coffee too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this cake as a groom's cake for a friend's wedding. I made this cake as a groom's cake for a friend's wedding. It was gone and more than half the wedding cake was left behind. I carried it in a paper cake box so I wouldn't have to bring an empty container home & people couldn't believe it was a homemade cake. My husband asks me to make it every now & then & he'll brag to his buddies for a week about how great it was. So easy to make & well worth every ounce of effort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I brought this cake in to the office for a birthday celebration. I brought this cake in to the office for a birthday celebration. Not only where they impressed with its presentation but more importantly they loved the cake itself. I followed to the letter the recipe except I added the entire contents of the cool whip. It was according to my fellow workers one of the best cakes they ever had. The recipe is making the rounds as you would expect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always make this cake for special occasions. I always make this cake for special occasions. It is so pretty and easy to make too. It tastes wonderful! I usually use more chocolate for the filling. If I can't find the Baker's chocolate at the store, I usually substitute milk chocolate chips. Don't refrigerate too long, or the chocolate on the top gets too hard to slice. Overall, this is one of my absolute favorite recipes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm a teenager and I made this cake for my friends' surprise birthday party. I'm a teenager and I made this cake for my friends' surprise birthday party. I was a little skeptical while I was making it but when I was done I was very impressed. Everyone loved the cake. I didn't put fruit on it as in the picture, but next time I make the cake I will because it doesn't look as grand in real life as in the picture. I would make this cake again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cake is always good, and this cake was definitely tastey! Cake is always good, and this cake was definitely tastey! However, the presentation didn't exactly end up like this picture. I had to use almost twice as much whipping cream to get a large middle layer like the picture! And the Drizzle chocolate is a little challenging too. Oh well, People did go back for seconds though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This cake was delicious. This cake was delicious. It could be more moist so I will try the mayonaise next time, but it is a keeper for sure. It looked so exquisite if you want to really impress those chocolate lovers!!! I served it with vanilla yogurt and also a dab of cool whip along with the strawberries and raspberries.

My family and I are not coffee drinkers and we don't like the taste of coffee. So, I did make this cake and omitted the coffee ingredients. It was very good. Actually I made it twice now. Everyone who tried it, liked it.
