I sliced the potatoes and my five and two year old did the rest. They buttered the pan, tossed the potatoes, grated the parm., layered the pot., it kept the very busy while I worked on the rest of supper! I will make this again! We did season the potatoes with salt and pepper as we layered...yummy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been searching for this!!!! I have been searching for this recipe for months.. I searched pommes annas and so much more. I sent through a divorce and lost so many of my favorite recipes. This one is sooo simple and it gets 5 stars.. I do use a cast iron skillet as it gives more of a golden crust.. I also add dabs of butter as I layer the potatoes. I also toast scallions , garlic. and parsley beforehand to sprinkle between the layers. However it is awesome just the way it is.. Don't know what others have done wrong to give this only a 1 star rating. but please give it a try. I'm 63 yrs old and have been cooking since I was a small child. This is so versatile. Use it as a simple weeknight side or as an elegant accompaniment to an special dinner!

This recipe tasted good (tho I added a lot of extra cheese), but it was kind of a pain. I had to watch it too closely. The slices on top got crispy (still tasty) and the middle/bottom slices not so much. Couldn't serve it as suggested either. We just ate it out the pie plate. It tasted good, but I just think there are better ways with potatoes out there. Won't be making this one again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This potato recipe was the best! This potato recipe was the best! I used only 4 medium potatoes because it was just for me and my husband. I used all the same amounts of butter and parmesan cheese and did add a tbl. of canola oil to the melted butter to coat the potato slices. Had no problem with sticking to the pie plate. Will try to add some chopped onion to the mix next time I make this. Excellent recipe!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I served this with prime rib fro Christmas dinner. I served this with prime rib fro Christmas dinner. I baked it in the toaster oven while the roast was in the main oven. I always use shredded Romano cheese and the flavor was outstanding. While I was tossing the potatoes with the remaining butter I decided it was too dry and added 1-2 TBSP olive oil and salt and pepper. It stuck to the bottom of the plate a bit but was very tasty.

Although I usually prefer to add onions to most any potato dish, I did not miss them in this recipe. It was easy to make, looked impressive, and was consumed to the last bite at a big family dinner. I doubled the recipe and worried that it would not cook thoroughly, but it was fine. I could not find Yukon Golds, but a local white potato worked well. Will certainly make it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I used a food processor to slice the potatoes. I used a food processor to slice the potatoes. Ialso seasoned the potatoes with a garlic and herb seasoning. I really enjoyed the end result. The only thing I really didn't enjoy was making the potatoes in such neat layers. The end result was worth it and I only cooked them for about 40 min. I will definitely make them again because everyone loved them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made this recipe one night when I was having my parents over for dinner. I made this recipe one night when I was having my parents over for dinner. I was too lazy to make mashed potatoes, and thought this looked easy and interesting. Since then, and it's become a regular staple recipe in our home. I did have to bake it a bit longer than the recipe suggested, (but it may be my oven, as I have noticed this problem before.)
