  • Place cream cheese between 2 sheets of waxed paper. Roll out to 6x4-inch rectangle with rolling pin. Remove top sheet of waxed paper; coat top and sides of cream cheese with shredded cheese. Invert onto serving plate. Remove waxed paper.
  • Arrange 3 rows of olives in top left corner of cream cheese rectangle for the "stars" of the "flag." Make 4 (1/4-inch-deep) rows, using rounded end of 1/4-tsp. measuring spoon for the "flag's stripes," leaving a 1/4-inch-wide space between the rows. Fill rows with salsa. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great for any party. This is great for any party. I use a glass bowl for the dip, which is MUCH EASIER! Take 1 pkg of cream cheese to 8+ oz of chuncky salsa and mix until creamy (5 min). Layer dip with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese, sliced black olives and chopped green onion. Add another layer (usually have 2), etc. I serve this dip with fritos and NEVER have leftovers!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Spreading the cream cheese between two sheets of wax paper was a good idea- in theory. Spreading the cream cheese between two sheets of wax paper was a good idea- in theory. Unfortunatly, the wax paper ended up ripping on both sides. Not a big deal right- just replace the wax paper with new sheets. Well finally, when I thought that I had gotten it down, I followed the next step to add cheddar cheese and then "invert" the cream cheese into the pan. Invert cream cheese that has been flattened onto wax paper and covered with cheese?? How do you expect people to do this? The cream cheese is STUCK to the wax paper.... therefore, you can only invert it into the pan by peeling it off the sheet with your hands. This is very VERY messy and you end up taking parts of the wax paper too. As a result, I only got about 1/6th of the cream cheese off the wax paper. I started over again using my mother's traditional cheese spread recipe. I still made the "flag" with the olives and salsa. So overall the spread came out fine, once I disregarded your guy's original "spreading cre

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was so easy and quick. This was so easy and quick. I made it for a work lunch and it went over so well that I made it for a family BBQ. Everyone loved the way it looked and the flavors mixed nicely. I served extra olives, salsa and cheese on the side. My 2 and 4 year old nieces couldn't get enough of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was not easy to make, inverting the spread cream cheese? This was not easy to make, inverting the spread cream cheese? It just did not work. I ended up serving it in a 13x9 clear glass dish. The taste was so bland! All you tasted was cream cheese! Way better dips out there - prettier to look at better tasting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For a little more flavor, I mixed the cream cheese with 1/2 a packet of taco seasoning. For a little more flavor, I mixed the cream cheese with 1/2 a packet of taco seasoning. To make the red and white stripes, I alternated stripes of salsa and shredded mozzerella cheese. I served it with crackers and tortilla chips. Absolutely delicious!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was a fun addition to our 4th of July BBQ. This was a fun addition to our 4th of July BBQ. My family really enjoyed it. The only problem I had was my salsa was runny so I had to keep dabing it with a paper towel to keep it looking nice. It tasted wonderful and I would make it again. Thank you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was easy to make and it was very cute! This was easy to make and it was very cute! Everyone loved it. I added extra cheese around the sides so as they scooped they got extra shredded cheese on their crackers, with I would have thought of the beans like in the previous comment. YUMMY
