  • Heat grill to medium heat.
  • Place chicken in large resealable plastic bag. Add 2 Tbsp. dressing; seal bag. Turn bag over several times to evenly coat chicken with dressing. Refrigerate 10 min. Remove chicken from bag; discard bag and dressing.
  • Cover half the grill grate with sheet of heavy-duty foil. Place chicken on uncovered side of grill grate; grill 6 min. Meanwhile, combine remaining dressing, tomatoes, cheese and basil.
  • Turn chicken over; place on foil. Top with tomato mixture. Grill 8 min. or until chicken is done (165ºF).

Special Equipment Needed


Marinate chicken in shallow glass dish instead of in the plastic bag.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with hot buttered egg noodles, and grilled or steamed vegetables.


If you don't have fresh basil, you can use 1 tsp. dried basil leaves instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOOOOOOOOVED IT! LOOOOOOOOVED IT! I did change it up a bit. I put my chicken in a 9 by 13 and pured a whole bottle of the dressing on it, covered it with tinfoil and put it in the fridge to marinate all day. Then I grabbed the whole dish ,stuck it in the oven. Let it cook until chicken was done. Pull it out put the breasts on a cookie sheet. I made the topping just like the recipe called for. I then loaded the topping on top of each breast and put them back in and turned my broil on low just to let the cheese somewhat melt. It was amazing. My husband said it was the best dinner I have ever made. Yay!

On a rainy day I even cook it in my oven and it is just as good. I have made it several times, served it to friends, and it is always a big hit.

I actually made this for my date.I was the first time I cooked for him, and he loved it. He went back for seconds and thirds, and he now thinks Im an awesome cook. Its super easy to do, and it tastes fantastic. The fresh basil really makes the dish and pulls it all together. When I had put the basil, and tomato on it, I ended up just popping it in the microwave to melt the cheese quickly, instead of waiting for it to melt on its own. My roommate ate some of my leftovers and loved it as well, now she constantly begs me to make it.. Definitely worth making again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent recipe. This is an excellent recipe. I made only once, but plan to make it again and again. Personally, I'm not a big fan of chicken but this was tender, juicy and melt in you mouth wonderful. Our local grocery store did not carry the specific marinating dressing, so I used a store brand of basil vinegarette. I did marinate about 8 hours and poked holes with a knife in the chicken so it soaked thru. Great presentation, but so quick and easy. Try it, you'll LOVE IT!!!!!

Second time I sauteed zucchini, onion and fresh garlic, then added it to the tomato mixture before grilling. Third time I wanted to make it for a potluck so I doubled the recipe and cubed the chicken before marinating. After browning the chicken, I placed it in 9x13 baking dish and topped with my zucchini/tomato mixture and broiled it in the oven. It was gone within 15 minutes and everyone at the office wanted the recipe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was amazing. This recipe was amazing. My husband and I ate it all, and I don't even like tomatoes. It was the 2nd one that I have made from this Summer's Kraft magazine and once again I was impressed. I also made the Grilled New Potato Packet and OMG were they delicious! I am not a chef by any means, but these recipes are so easy that even I am capable. At this very second, I am in the middle of making the Lush Angel food cake with pineapple. Hopefully, it goes as well as the past 2 recipes ~ I'll keep everyone updated. Becky - Johntown, PA

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Jus made this dish this evening on the broiler. Jus made this dish this evening on the broiler. Kids 3 and 5 ate it right up. Served with baby spinach salad and garlic bread it looks great on the plate and tasted wonderful. My husband's marinated longer, by about 3 hours, but it didn't seem to make the flavor too strong. He likes it as well. I think next time I'll add in some cheese flavored croutons or something as well. All in all a very tasty and easy to make dish that will be used again and again, especially for company. Looks fancier and more complex than it really is.
