  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine ham and cheese. Unfold pastry sheet on cutting board; cut into 9 squares. Make 2 L-shaped cuts in each square, making cuts opposite from each other and 1/2 inch from edges of square. Lift loose outer corners of each square and bring through cuts to opposite sides of square; press edges together to seal. Place on baking sheet; brush with egg. Prick centers with fork.
  • Bake 10 min. Remove from oven; gently press down any puffed centers with back of spatula. Spread with mustard; fill with ham mixture. Bake 7 to 8 min. or until golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with onions.

Add 1/2 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne) to ham mixture before using as directed.


Substitute chipotle pepper sauce for the mustard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A LITTLE BETTER The biggest stumbling block to this recipe is the directions for forming the puff pastry shape. If you had run the video any faster, even watching it ten times would hardly help. However, once I got it, this is a lovely shape and could be used for many different fillings. Ham and cheese and mustard are a tasty start.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wha??? Those are the skimpiest recipe directions I've ever seen! What happens to the mustard? How do you get that little twist on the ends? Do you bring up the middle of the pastry to cover the ham/cheese and what's included in the "ham mixture". One of the worst recipes directions ever!

Recipe sounds delicious and I look forward to making and serving these. Can a video of how exactly these are made be offered here for those of us who need a bit of help, Please? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy, delicious I had to look at the picture several times to realize how to make these, after I had figured out the cuts, the rest was easy. I used thickest sliced ham and swiss cheese, the mustard and a dill pickle in the center, Mini Cuban sandwiches.
