Ratings & Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have made this recipe many times using a variety of fillings. I have made this recipe many times using a variety of fillings. My favorite is ham and cheese, but I made a thinly sliced beef and cheese today - spreading the dough with mustard and horseradish - to rave reviews. I usually spread the dough with mustard, sometimes adding finely chopped red or green peppers. I slice the roll in 1/2" slices and thereby get many servings to use as appetizers. This is always one of the first items to disappear from my table. A great recipe and I highly recommend it. Only negative comment I have is it tends to brown more quickly on the outside before it gets thoroughly cooked on the inside, so I usually turn down the oven a bit, bake it about 10 minutes longer and cover it with foil for the last 15 minutes or so.

The kids love dipping them in marinara sauce. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy! Very easy! The kids loved it. My husband and I thought it a little bland, so I added bacon, extra cheese and spicy mustard. That helped! Makes a great side to soup and/or salad.
