Make It

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Unroll pizza dough onto lightly floured surface; press into 18x12-inch rectangle. Cut into 6 rectangles.
  • Top with ham to within 1/2 inch of edges, cutting ham slices as necessary to form even layer. Combine cheese and dressing; spread over ham. Top with tomatoes.
  • Fold dough rectangles crosswise in half; seal edges with fork. Place on baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 15 to 17 min. or until golden brown.

Make Ahead

Prepare calzones as directed but do not bake. Place on baking sheet; cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate up to 8 hours. When ready to serve, bake, uncovered, as directed.

I used hard salami in addition to the ham and I used Parmesan Caesar instead of Ranch because I was out of Ranch, and I spread the dressing on the crust instead of mixing it with the cheese. I did this as one big stromboli/calzone instead of indiviual ones because it just seemed easier. I spread out the crust and layered the ingredients starting with ham and ending with cheese and then rolled the whole thing up. I sliced it into fours and it was great!! Will make again with different fillings.

I used ham from the deli and four slices was a bit much I think so the ham took up a lot of room and they didn't turn out in perfect little squares like in the picture, but it was still YUMMY :) And that's more important than it being super pretty. I also made it low calorie by using fat free kraft ranch and fat free shredded cheese. This brought the calorie count down to about 350 per calzone.

I got the recipe for ham 'n cheese calzones via email and it looked so good I decided to make it. It was a hit and I just loved it. I did change it around a little by adding pizza sauce and pepperoni. My friend wanted the recipe and so does my daughter. I will make them for all my friends now. Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is our new favorite! This is our new favorite! The kids and the adults loved them. The second time I made the calzones, we let the kids create their own. We had the lunchmeat and cheese like the recipe calls for, but we also had precooked chicken with salsa and fiesta cheese. We also made some w/ pepperoni, mozzerella and pizza sauce. These cook so fast and are fun to eat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This recipe is great for on the go families. This recipe is great for on the go families. I made it ahead of time, put in refrig with a note on how to cook it. The husband was able to follow instructions. I did not think it had any flavor, so with the last few left, I topped it with basil, salt and pepper. Yep that was it, exactly what it needed. I will make this again.

There is something about the ranch dressing and cheese combo I do not like. I will make again, but I need to jazz it up with maybe different meat, suace, and cheese.

I did jazz up the salad dressing and cheese with Texas Pete, garlic salt, cayenne pepper and onion powered, but i do that to almost everything i cook. Next time I make it I'll try it would broccoli and cheese!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good! Very good! Fairly quick to make, easy and felt a little more culinary than heating up a frozen boxed calzone. Thinking of adding a little chopped broccoli or spinach next time, or going with pizza ingredients. Will definitely make again.
