I've made one very similar and no matter what you put in from the produce your family likes it's bound to be excellent. Be sure the cabbage you use is COOKED enough, though, so it'll be less gas-prone. It's much better for my tender stomach with LESS tomato and a splootch of lemon juice. One thing -- start out with a quarter amount of seasoning the first time and add to taste. Even if you wind up using the full amount, that's fine -- you've just saved yourself a lovely pot of nourishing soup if your family needs something milder, and Kraft sold the package anyway. <grin> Experiment with different flavors -- after all, it's just well-cooked salad in hot water! Since there are no raw meat/eggs/whathaveyou, you can taste it at any stage, another nice bonus. Do this with every drastic change to the veg content when you make it again (and you will, it's one of the very best soups around).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We really liked this recipe. We really liked this recipe. I added turkey keilbasa when we reheated it for the second go-round; really good. Next time, I'm going to leave out the green beans and add the cannellini beans at the last moment. The green beans were tasteless and the others got a little mushy. Overall, though, this is a great winter soup---had everything in the pantry---and it reheats well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was absolutely the worst soup I have ever made! This was absolutely the worst soup I have ever made! My husband and I tried it because I happened to have all the ingredients on hand. Maybe it's the combination of tomatoes with the italian dressing . . . but it was so bitter! I even tried to make it into a pureed, boullion soup which is popular here (France), but still . . . c'est terrible!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really enjoyed this soup. I really enjoyed this soup. I'm currently on a diet and this made a tasty addition to the limited things I'm eating right now. I added chopped garlic, black and red pepper, parmesan cheese and corn to this while it was cooking and it turned out great! My husband (who hates veggies) actually ate three bowls of this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I did add seasonings, as others suggested, and one cup of brown rice. I did add seasonings, as others suggested, and one cup of brown rice. For seasoning, I added another seasoning packet and about one tablespoon of hot sauce. The whole family raved about it - even the kids ate the vegetables. Will be a great winter soup! (Made it in August in Florida - what was I thinking!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used the stovetop instead of microwave. Used the stovetop instead of microwave. Didn't have green onion on hand so I sauteed yellow onion in a little butter first. Added frozen corn after I mashed the potatoes. A little chopped cilantro garnish would have been good too. The soup was a huge hit at my house! I highly recommend it. - Enjoy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from After reading others ratings, I started by sauteeing the carrots, onion and celery in about 2 Tbls. After reading others ratings, I started by sauteeing the carrots, onion and celery in about 2 Tbls. of garlic oil for more flavor, I did increase the good seasons to 2 pkgs. I also used a savoy cabbage. I thought is was very tasty. I may try using some chopped ham in it next time.
