Hot Cocoa-Marshmallow Cupcakes

Similar to a cup of hot cocoa, these chocolate cupcakes are topped with a whipped chocolate frosting, mini marshmallows and dusting of cocoa powder.

What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) devil's food cake mix

cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows, divided

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

1/4

cup milk

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

Make It

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 24 cupcakes; cool completely.

MEANWHILE, cook 1 cup marshmallows, chocolate and milk in large saucepan on low heat until marshmallows and chocolate are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring constantly. Pour into large bowl; cool 30 min.

WHISK COOL WHIP into marshmallow mixture; spread onto cupcakes. Top with remaining marshmallows and cocoa powder. Keep refrigerated.

Prepare as directed, except bake cake batter in 13x9-inch pan.

Made these tonight and they were quick & easy. I don't bake very well, but these were simple. The kids loved them. I really liked the frosting, because it wasn't too sugary or sweet. I like the cool whip type frostings. Will definitely make again!

These cupcakes are AWESOME! They are very easy to make and super delicious! I substituted hot chocolate mix for the cocoa powder and I really think it made it taste even better! This is a must try for hot cocoa lovers!

Made it for my son's birthday everyone loved it. Made it again for Christmas. Really tastes like hot cocoa.

I have made these cupcakes a couple different times and they are fantastic! Everyone loved them :-) I would agree with some of the other reviews to skip the cocoa powder on top.

These turned out really cute...and they tasted good, too! I made them for a party last December, and they're perfect for that time of year. Next time, I'll skip the sprinkled cocoa powder. It was probably a chef's error, but it made a big mess and I don't think it added much to the taste.

I made these cupcakes for my little sisters birthday in July. They were perfect because they need to be refridgerated for the whipped topping and everyone enjoyed the cool treat! They were also so fun to make and very cute. I could also see using them for a winter treat too since they are hot cocoa!
