Hot dogs are party animals by nature, as we know from their frequent appearances at cookouts and pool parties. But this sub takes it to another level.

OSCAR MAYER hot dog recipes

What You Need

tsp.  olive oil
 red onion, thinly sliced, separated into rings
can  (4 oz.) chopped green chiles, drained
piece  French bread (12 inch), cut lengthwise in half
 OSCAR MAYER Selects Uncured Beef Franks, partially cut lengthwise in half
 KRAFT Big Slice Pepper Jack Cheese Slices
 red pepper, cut into strips

Make It

HEAT oven to 400ºF.

HEAT oil in large skillet on medium heat. Add onions; cook 4 min. or until crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in chiles.

HOLLOW out insides of bread halves, leaving 1/2-inch-thick shells. Discard removed bread or reserve for another use. (See Tip.)

PLACE franks in bottom half of bread. Top with 2 cheese slices, red peppers and onion mixture; cover with remaining cheese slices and top of bread. Wrap in foil.

BAKE 20 min. or until sandwich is heated through and cheese is melted.

How to Use Removed Bread
Use removed bread to make bread crumbs or croutons. For bread crumbs, place bread in blender and blend until fine crumbs form. Store in freezer until ready to use. Or, to make croutons, tear bread into small pieces. Toss with small amount of olive oil; spread onto baking sheet. Bake in 400ºF oven 10 min. or until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Store in airtight container at room temperature until ready to use.
Serving Suggestion
Serve with assorted cut-up fresh vegetables.
